At the Grave Site
At the end of grave side service, Tom Pucelik, professor of religion at Bradley University, a long time friend of the family, and confirmation sponsor to Nicholas, spoke:
"On the facade of the great royal cathedral of Rheims in central
France there is a famous sculpture of an angel looking down from above the
central doorway. This sculpture is so well know because it is of an angel
that is called the "Smiling Angel" (L'Ange au Sourire). So many today have
noted in their reflections that they so often saw and knew Nick to have a
great smile. I would agree -as we all would- that he truly had a
wonderful smile. And so the thought of this angel, smiling among the other
angels on the Cathedral of Rheims, reminds me, and I think you would agree
also, that Nick too, takes his place among that heavenly chorus of angels
-and he too HAS A GREAT SMILE. God bless him! (May he ever smile down upon
us!)"
